Bachelor of Christian Ministry (BCM)

Program details

Bachelor of Christian Ministry (BCM) is a three and half-year professional degree designed to prepare students for ministry in the local church, para-church organizations or missions.  This is an excellent degree for those already in ministry or for those planning to become involved in ministry. The BCM Modular allows adult learners to complete the entire BCM degree in four years. Those students who have at least one year of college or university credit may enroll in the Degree Completion Program and complete the degree in approximately two years.

Program Objectives

Graduates of the BCM degree program will:

  1. Be competent in the interpretation and application of Scripture.
  2. Be able to articulate doctrinal distinctives for themselves and others.
  3. Be familiar with the issues related to various aspects of ministry.
  4. Develop a biblically based philosophy of ministry.
  5. Have a passion for the church and a determination of giftedness to serve.
  6. Have a deep desire to study and teach God’s Word to others.
  7. Have clearly developed skills in areas of interest.
  8. Be able to contextualize and apply biblical material to contemporary issues.
  9. Be competent in hermeneutics of the Bible.

 Bachelor of Religious Education

Bachelor of Christian Ministry (BCM) is a three and half-year (90 credit hours) professional degree designed to prepare students for ministry. 

The BCM may also be completed in two formats:

  • Modular
  • Degree Completion

Notes:

  1. Not all required courses are offered every year.
  2. BCM requires 90 credit hours including core, focus and electives.
  3. Students have to complete a Field Education (Ministry Portfolio)

 Record of Field Education FDED (Ministry Portfolio)

Field Education is an integral part of every student’s educational experience and it exists to provide the catalyst and the context for the integration of faith, knowledge and practice. As a BRE modular student, it is recognized that you may have already begun this integration through your previous ministry experience.  You may do this by preparing a portfolio that summarizes your experiences. Your program advisor will assess your portfolio. Field Education are required for graduation. (Approximately 300 hours including the preparation, traveling and on-site work).
