In 2004, Canadian Chinese churches established the Association of Canadian Chinese Theological Education (ACCTE) under the influence of the Chinese Coordination Centre of World Evangelism (CCCOWE). ACCTE then founded the Canadian Chinese School of Theology (CCST) as one of its departments to develop CCST Toronto (in partnership with Tyndale) in 2006, followed by CCST Vancouver in 2015, and subsequently CCST Calgary in 2019. Today, CCST Calgary is an independent theological institution established in Alberta, Canada.

CCST was accredited by the Asia Theological Association (ATA) in 2015 and supports its member schools in obtaining accreditation from ATA. With the restructuring of ACCTE & CCST, CCST Calgary was approved by the Asia Theological Association (ATA), formerly as an Associated Member, and eventually as an Accredited Member in 2023.
