Canadian Chinese School of Theology Calgary
Search for Principal

Rooted firmly in the evangelical Protestant tradition, the Canadian Chinese School of Theology Calgary is committed to preparing leaders for the church and missional roles, and equipping laypersons for witness in the public arena. Currently the School offers programs in the Mandarin language toward M.Div., D.Min., and other degrees. This work is governed by the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities:
The Principal is the highest administrative and academic position of the School. The Principal is responsible for leading the School in fulfilling its vision and mission according to its unique situation. This position is recommended by the Search Committee and appointed by the Board of Directors, and is responsible for:

  • Lead the School by maintaining the spiritual, academic and financial well-being of the school.
  • Serve as a member of the Academic Committee.
  • Oversee all programs.
  • Oversee and supervise all staff.
  • Represent the School in all capacities.
  • Responsible for fundraising to support the School’s development.
  • Promote the Seminary and strengthen partnerships with churches, organizations, and global mission partners.

Qualifications:

Abiding to the School’s Statement of Faith, a successful candidate should possess the following:

  • Good Christian moral character with good reputation in the churches.
  • Demonstrate a passion in theological education. A doctoral degree or rich experience in theological education is preferred.
  • Effective in student recruitment.
  • Good at partnership with churches and para-church organizations.
  • Acquire relevant and proven ministry experience in a Chinese Church setting.
  • Exhibit a passion for preparing Christians for ministry and leadership.
  • Work effectively in a trans-denominational setting.
  • Able to lead in the context of collegial decision-making processes.
  • Proficient in English and Mandarin. Proficiency in Cantonese is a definite asset.
  • Since the Principal will need to promote the Seminary within the Alberta region, preference will be given to candidates who currently reside in or are willing to relocate to Calgary.

The successful candidate will be appointed on a three-year contract, with the possibility of extension subject to the Board of Directors’ performance evaluation.
